Having no background in physiology and or medicine and having just read born to run I decided to look at my own gait and form to see for myself if this could be mystic wisdom from the ages or hippie bs propagated to sell vibram shoes and chia seeds. I did this in about 15 min with iMovie and a canon SD790 IS and what was immediately noticeable is my body felt much more impact with the heel strike. Post heel strike as my body moves through the gait there is an absorption of impact requiring additional engagement of muscles as my foot goes from heel to toe and then push off. It appears that in the mid sole strike there is no additional absorption of impact other than the initial.
